Tree Planting for Pollinators in Accord

Join us in welcoming spring by planting native trees that support threatened native pollinators!

Learn how to plant and care for bare-root trees, discover the importance of woody plants for caterpillars, bumblebees and more, and enjoy refreshments on a beautiful farm setting. Hosted by the Hudson Valley Seed Company and Partners for Climate Action.

Planting holes will be pre-dug and volunteer tasks will include planting young trees, adding tree tubes for deer protection, and spreading mulch. Participants should be comfortable navigating a working farm landscape with possible areas of uneven or muddy terrain. Kids are welcome; please no pets.

What to wear and bring: We recommend bringing a water bottle, hat, and clean gardening gloves. Please wear sturdy clothes and mud-free boots to help us prevent the spread of invasive jumping worms. Restrooms, water, and snacks will be available onsite and the farm store is open from 10am-4pm for all your spring gardening needs.

This event will take place rain or shine except in the case of extreme weather conditions. Participants will be contacted with any changes.

About the the Hudson Valley Seed Company: We are committed to growing organically, sourcing locally and sustainably, and preserving crop diversity by selecting unique, rare, and hard-to-find varieties. Every seed in our catalog is open pollinated, many are heirloom and organic, and they are never GMO. We were one of the first companies to sign the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI), and we will remain committed to our values of sustainability to the last. We believe that a seed is more than meets the eye: it is a time capsule telling tales of the plants, crops, and people that came before us, and we work with a range of artists as diverse as our seeds to pass those stories down to present and future gardeners.

About This Project: Partners for Climate Action (PCA) is a Hudson Valley regional nonprofit committed to catalyzing bioregional ecological action. Through generous funding from the New York Community Trust, New York State Office of the Attorney General and New York Pollinator Conservation Fund, PCA is partnering with five regional farms to install habitat in support of our most vulnerable locally native pollinators. Read more about the project here.
